Job: Project manager for Owen-Ames-Kimball Company, a construction management company based in Fort Myers with offices in Naples, Cape Coral and Port Charlotte. I started with OAK as an assistant superintendent in 2004 after obtaining my master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. I am fortunate enough to work for a company where personal effort, knowledge and desire are recognized with the opportunity to move up within the company. One project I am very proud to have been a part of is the Southwest Florida International Airport Runway 6-24 and Taxiway ‘A’ Rehabilitation. This was a unique and challenging project that has received the 2007 Florida Department of Transportation Outstanding Airport Award and the 2007 BIA Commercial Contractors Summit Award for Best Public Works project.
In the near future: In my professional path, I plan this year to get my LEED Professional Accreditation and my Professional Engineer License.
Long-term goals: I want to give back to OAK for all the experience I have gained over the past three years and help rank the company among the best 100 contractors in the country.
Hobbies, interests and activities: Sports in general but mainly golf, basketball and swimming. I also enjoy traveling and movies. I find stock investing and Forex trading extremely entertaining and interesting.
Family: My family is composed of my very supportive parents, Rosario and Gabriel, who live in my native country of Colombia. Because of them I made it to this great country that has seen me grow professionally and personally. They have always been my inspiration source and my support. My family is completed by my wife Florencia to whom I have been married for two years.
Last book read: “One Hundred Years of Solitude.” It is a novel by Nobel Prize winning Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
