Zion students celebrate

Staff, students and their families kicked off National Lutheran Schools Week Friday at the Parent-Teacher League Sock Hop at Zion Lutheran School.

On Monday, students participated in Hobbies and Career Day. More than 30 volunteers came to the school to teach talents ranging from fishing to coin collecting.

Zion students celebrate Since then, Meyer said, the committee has pooled ideas, saving the most popular classes each year ? such as candy making, cake decorating and tie- dying ? and adding others.

Activities will continue through Sunday, with each day featuring a different theme.

Today is Class Color Day. Students could bring their mothers, grandmothers, babysitters or other guests for muffins, juice or coffee. Youths also brought a book, shirt, hat or some other item to autograph.

On Wednesday, everyone will dress in their unday best? for Dress Up Day. Each class will have a representative doing something during chapel. Students will make placemats to give to nursing homes and a banner for Zion Church.

Thursday Crazy Day is an opportunity for students to dress a little crazier than usual. Dads, grandpas, baby sitters and other special people are invited for doughnuts, coffee or juice at 7:45 a.m. Students also are invited to bring cameras to take pictures of their friends. Each class will place something into a time capsule to be opened in 2020. History Fair exhibits from the upper classes can be seen during the all-grade open house from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

On Friday, students are invited to wear pajamas to school. Classes will share reading time with other classes, then experience some DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time. Popcorn and a movie are scheduled for the afternoon.

The celebration will end Sunday with an All School Sing. Students are asked to attend the 8 or 10:30 a.m. service (or both) at Zion Church to sing at the 8 a.m. service and the beginning of the 10:30 a.m. service.
