Reason for becoming a teacher: To make a difference and have a positive impact on the youth of today. Greatest moment as a teacher: My greatest moment as a teacher has to be the time my boys step team performed at Wekiva High School in front of hundreds of people. After the show, I could see in their eyes the confidence that they needed to help them to grow up to be positive citizens. At that particular moment, I knew all of my hard work was not in vain. Most embarrassing moment as a teacher: While teaching a science lesson on friction, I slid a chair across the floor too fast and tripped over it. The students in the classroom thought that was really hilarious. Favorite aspects of being a teacher: My favorite aspects of being a teacher are knowing that I’m making a positive and influential impact on my class, in the school environment and in the community. Least favorite part of teaching: My least favorite part of teaching is grading all the papers. Favorite movies: Akeelah and the Bee and The Great Debaters Last book you read: Annual Growth For All Students, Catch-Up Growth For Those Who Are Behind by Lynn Fielding, Nancy Kerr and Paul Rosier Favorite hobbies: Reading and mentoring children Family: A little brother (Kendal, 6), and two sisters (LaBreisha, 9, and LaTeshia, 16). If you weren’t a teacher, what would you be and why? I would have probably become a pediatrician because I hate to have to see children in pain. Person you most admire and why: My grandmother because she instilled integrity, responsibility and discipline into me while I was growing up. PHOTO:Orlando Norwood COURTESY OF ORLANDO NORWOOD
