Reason for becoming a teacher: My dad taught for 12 years, so I wanted to become a teacher too. Greatest moment as a teacher: Receiving my first paycheck and knowing this was my career. Most embarrassing moment as a teacher: I gave a speech to adults, and I forgot my cheat sheet to help me. I had to wing it! Favorite aspects of being a teacher: The interaction with my students every day, and making a difference in their lives. Least favorite part of teaching: Paperwork! Favorite movies: Rudy, Field of Dreams, Bull Durham and of course Hoosiers! Favorite hobbies: Sports and playing with my twin daughters. Family: My wife, April, and our 1-year-old twin daughters. If you weren’t a teacher, what would you be and why? I have no idea. I believe I was born to teach. Person you most admire and why: My dad. He is everything I strive to be. That man makes me want to be a better teacher, father and husband. Full-time public and private school teachers in Lake County are eligible for nomination. Nominators can be students or their parents, school staffers and friends, but not the teacher or family members. Information needed is the nominator’s name, phone number, the teacher’s name, school, grade they teach and a brief reason for their nomination. Nominations are limited to the first 40 received.
