Myriad niche sites have sprung up based on certain hobbies, interests and personality traits. Although major dating Web services generally charge monthly fees, many niche sites are free. *Snag a discount Although e-dating sites may charge up to $60 per month, many lower the fee if you sign up for several months at a time. Many sites are also running Valentine’s Day specials. And often, you can review profiles and post a profile of your own before paying, giving you the chance to see whether the service itself is a good match for you. *Put your best e-foot forward To get the most out of e-dating, Beth Roberts and Karin Anderson, online dating coaches and authors of Finding Your Mate Online: No Fear, No Embarrassment, Just Love!, recommend giving it as much thought as you would a job search. The coaches also recommend focusing on four elements: your screen name, photo, personal ad and the site you choose.
