The Parkersburg Elks Lodge 198 has selected the February 208 Teenager-of-the-Month. They are Addison Mills Litton from Parkersburg High School and Darrin E. Nichols from Wirt County High School.
Litton is the daughter of Amy Dehmlow and Frank Litton of Parkersburg. She has a GPA of 4.04. She is in or has been in the following activities and earned these awards: Torch Chapter National Honor Society, elected to Honor Council by West Virginia Association of Student Councils, third place FBLA West Virginia Public Speaking Div. II, Statewide West Virginia Capital Forum on America’s Future, mock senatorial session, Academic Excellence Award, first and seventh place West Virginia Public Speaking Div. I FBLA, sixth place statewide 2006 National Spanish Exam finalist, National Association of Student Councils Statewide Dale D. Hawley Leadership Award, Nathan Award for Scholastic Excellence presented by the City of Parkersburg, Scholarship recipient for Point Park College Intensive Summer Dance, Nobilis Chapter National Junior Honor Society, published in the National “High School Writer†short story, first place junior short story in Wood County competition, president of the Future Business Leaders of America, National Spanish Honor Society, student council representative, captain of the Red Wings High School Dance and Drill Team, Kelly School of Dance, National Award Winning A Cappella Choir, sophomore cabinet, junior cabinet, senior cabinet, Old Man Rivers Charitable Food Mission, chairperson for American Red Cross blood drive, voter registration drive coordinator, FBLA member, student body president, American Cancer Society Teen Board, committee chairperson of “Relay High†2005/2008 American Cancer Society and senior company member of Schrader Youth Ballet Company.
Litton’s hobbies are skiing, snowboarding, certified open water scuba diver, dance and has traveled to South Africa, Egypt, Spain, Mexico, Ecuador, Galapagos Island, Peru, British West Indies and Switzerland.
Nichols is the son of Toby and Rebecca Nichols of Walker, W.Va. He has a GPA of 4.0. His activities and awards are: FBLA-Local Parliamentarian for two years, West Virginia State Parliamentarian for one year, WCHS Tiger marching drumline for three years, sophomore class treasurer, junior class vice president, member of Mu Alpha Theta, Wirt County youth basketball coach and referee, mentor at H.A.R.P. afterschool program, second place in computer concepts and desktop publishing, outstanding eighth grade award named the Darrin Maize Award, first place in Parliamentary procedure at the state level and first in the nation for desktop publishing at the 2007 National Leadership Conference in Chicago, Ill.
