Eight Honored For Excelling In Science

The Chippewa Falls Senior High School Science Department is pleased to announce its Science Students of the Month for April.

Sophomore Jamie Bengston, the daughter of Wendy and Steve Bengston, was chosen by her biology teacher, Mr. Cloutier.

“Jamie is a focused person with a great personality and an intuitive sense for biology,” Cloutier said. “Her overall performance is always among the best in classes.”

Jamie would like to attend a four-year college, possibly in Minnesota, her anticipated areas of study are liberal arts and natural sciences. Some of her hobbies and interests include cross-country, soccer, riding horses, reading and having fun with family and friends. Jamie has also involved with the Trinity Equestrian Center, meals-on-wheels, and Agnes’ Table.

Jamie was home schooled through elementary and middle school. She chose her dad as her most influential teacher.

“He taught me how to solve problems, and learning habits that I apply now to my school work,” Jamie said. “He also made it fun and interesting.”

Sophomore Ryan Clark, the son of Mary Hutson-Clark and Ron Clark, was chosen by his biology teacher, Mrs. Rubisch.

“Ryan is always on top of his class work,” Rubisch said. “His test are very good and is always prepared for them. He is a quiet leader and has a wonderful work ethic, he does not waste any time he is given.”

Ryan would like to attend and graduate from a four-year college and get a good job. He is unsure of his area of study. Some of his hobbies and interests include hunting, reading, football, and involvement in his church.

Ryan attended Parkview Elementary. He chose Mrs. Dulmus from Chippewa Falls Middle School as his most influential teacher.

“She made reading and science class fun for me in sixth grade,” Ryan said.

Sophomore Michelle Froelich, the daughter of Kathy Gilbertson, was chosen by her biology teacher Mr. Kuchta.

“Michelle has shown a very mature attitude towards her work in biology,” Kuchta said. “I know that she can be relied on to do assignments, ask questions, and go beyond the required work. She has a positive influence on her classmates and is willing to help out.”

Michelle plans to attend college but she is unsure where. Her anticipated area of study is in the medical field in the area of nursing. Some of her hobbies and interest include playing and coaching volleyball.

Michelle attended Holy Ghost Elementary school. She chose Mrs. Butler from Notre Dame Middle School as her most influential teacher.

“She was a great teacher,” Michelle said.

Freshman Sara Reed, the daughter of Robin Reed and Bill Reed, was chosen by her physical science teacher, Mrs. Slowiak.

“Sara has worked very hard in science class all year long,” Slowiak said. “She is very attentive and asks questions when she needs help. I appreciate Sara’s determination to want to do well and willingness to take the initiative to ask for clarification. Sara recently did an outstanding job on an independent project that demonstrated her ability to apply the science concepts we were studying to her own interests.”

Sara would like to go the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She’d like to study dental hygiene or education. Some of her hobbies and interests include spending time with her family and dog Lucy, softball, and spending time with friends. She is also very involved with church at Zion United Methodist. She has gone on mission trips and does a lot of volunteer work.
