hobbies.gif”>The Talent and Hobbies weekend staged at St Peter’s Church over the Bank Holiday weekend brought in visitors from far and wide.
The church was filled with a wonderful show of more than 30 exhibits ranging from fishing flies to china painting.

The bells were in almost constant use as people ‘had a go’ and demonstrations of bead jewellery, punchwork, card stamping, lace-making, spinning and model houses all added to the general buzz of interest as exhibitors talked about their interests. Refreshments were served throughout with tombola, raffle and plant stalls.

On Saturday evening a talent concert organised by Matthew and Wendy Pickles was held with several children taking part, singing, playing instruments and doing magic tricks. The acts were interspersed with adults singing, playing the organ, piano, guitar and trumpet for solo and duet items, and readings. Altogether a very varied programme showing what a lot of talent the village can produce.

The entire proceeds of the weekend, which will boost church funds, will be announced later.

THE ï¿¡5 CHALLENGE - Churchgoers at St Peter’s have been set a challenge by the vicar, the Rev Ruth Hind. On Sunday she gave a ï¿¡5 note to each member of the congregation and asked them to try to make the money grow by September when the results will be collected.
