BONEFISH COMETHFlorida-based restaurant Bonefish Grill (855 Broad St., Suite 225, Boise, 433-1234) will extend its multistate reach to Idaho when it opens in BoDo April 28.The original launch date was set for March, but the 5,400-square-foot space took its time transforming into a dining room full of hardwood and amber light with an open kitchen and spacious bar.Bonefish specializes in fresh seafood made to order, though the menu offers plenty of other options.Hours will be 11:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2-10 p.m. (dinner only) on Sunday.A BITE OF THE BIG APPLEIn 1878, a man named Thomas Anthony Gandolfo left his home in Genoa, Italy, for the promise of Brooklyn, N.Y.More than a century later, Gandolfo’s descendants are running a successful franchise by the same name. Gandolfo’s New York Delicatessen hit Meridian (2020 E. Overland Rd., 884-3354) last year and Nampa (16734 N. Marketplace Blvd., 466-3354) about a month ago. Boise (8151 W. Fairview Ave., 377-4376) followed suit in the last couple weeks.Wherever you find it, the deli offers a little of everything that is classic New York.Bagels, Nathan’s Famous hot dogs, meaty salads and monster sandwiches dominate the menu. On the sandwich side, there are 51 separate items categorized in turkey, chicken, ham, vegetarian, roast beef, Italian and specialty combinations. You have hot and cold options on certain flavors, plus a choice of a hero or Kaiser roll, rye, sourdough or wheat bread or a Gandolfo’s flavored wrap.Side items are made fresh daily, and desserts include a chocolate mousse cake and Italian sorbet and gelato.In addition to dine-in meals, orders can be made in advance for individuals, group box lunches or full caterings. The new Boise shop is open 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and is closed Sunday.NEWS BITES8th Street Wine Co. (405 S. 8th St., Suite 100, Boise, 426-9463) has Monday night wine flight scheduled through the end of May.New World Wines on April 7; Australian Reds on April 14; Worldly Syrahs on April 21; California Zinfandels on April 28; Idaho Favorites on May 5; Wines of New Zealand on May 12; Summer Sippers on May 19; Pinot Noirs on May 26. Each flight features five wines, and prices vary. The public is welcome to drop in every Monday from 5-10 p.m.Franco Latino (775 S. Rivershore Ln., Eagle, 938-2850) has First Thursday flights of five wines paired with five tapas for $15. Cooking classes also are available, with three more in April. Franco Latino Part 2 features grilled chili citrus shrimp, roasted corn chowder, avocado salad and bronzed salmon salad at 6 p.m. on April 8. Chinese Cooking 101 offers veggie egg rolls, fried rice, seafood stir fry, egg drop soup and almond chicken at 6 p.m. on April 15 and 17. Classes are $40 per person.Tickets are sold out for the annual Culinary Walk About, which raises funds to feed homebound seniors through Meals On Wheels.
